Pre-First – Life Cycles Project
Our Prefirst students have been working with the Butterfly Life Cycle. They have researched the steps, and now our students are doing 3D models to explain it. Each student created their caterpillars using socks. After that, they will go to the Dlab and make the model for the pupa.
Preschool 3 Ants
In this unit preschool third children are studying the life of an ant. They have learned about their life cycles, food, and the different types of ants. As part of the project children are taking care of an ant farm and they are really enjoying it.
Preschool 1 Dogs project.
During our Dogs project, our preschoolers had amazing visitors Kiara and Panchito, who helped us to learn more about dogs. We had the opportunity to talk with two dog owners and we could meet their dogs. We practiced safety rules for petting a dog: first how we need to ask, then how to let the dog sniff you and finally our students were able to pet the dog gently. We also noticed how dogs can be different sizes and we could compare the differences between them. We measured the dog’s legs and body with nonstandard units (cardboard bones made by our students). We could discover what dogs eat, and what they like. It was a very enriching experience with our students so happy.
Primaria
First grade CAD Session
In commemoration of our School’s anniversary, first grade students did a project based on the history of Merici. They had their CAD Session in which they were able to share with their parents and members of the community everything they learned these past months. From how our School started, to creating a new mascot, first graders were also able to propose ideas for next year’s agenda. .
4º de Primaria DEJANDO HUELLA
Los alumnos de 4° observaron videos relacionados con hombres y mujeres que han dejado huella en algún ámbito, realizaron reflexiones acerca de los aspectos positivos de cada uno. De tarea investigaron acerca de otros personajes y en clase elaboraron su cartulina haciendo énfasis en las características de su personaje, resumieron la información y elaboraron una minibiografía de su personaje, esta es solamente una parte de este proyecto transversal.
Fifth grade The Wish Tree
During the previous weeks students made a project named ‘The Wish Tree’ in which they were able to use the language seen in a very creative way.
Primaria Acción Ambiental ABP
Los alumnos de segundo abordamos el tema de la lombricomposta, estamos indagando sobre algunas de sus características, qué comen, dónde prefieren vivir y estamos recolectando algunas lombrices en el huerto y en el compostero del colegio. Los alumnos de tercero comenzamos a preparar el terreno del huerto donde vamos a poner en práctica dos métodos de siembra: el metro cuadrado y siembra en panal, es un trabajo divertido que requiere un poco de fuerza por lo compacto del suelo. Sin embargo lo disfrutamos porque ponemos en práctica el uso de los materiales del huerto como palas.
Primaria Música
Durante las últimas semanas los alumnos de 6o grado han aprendido a utilizar las herramientas de creación musical en iPad como GarageBand y Chrome Music Lab para crear introducciones con diseño sonoro o fondos musicales que serán de gran ayuda para los proyectos que están trabajando incluyendo contenido multimedia como Podcast, Video documentales o videos cortos. En estas imágenes podemos ver cómo comenzaron a explorar las diferentes plataformas para crear diseño sonoro, fondos musicales, agregar sonidos de la biblioteca de GarageBand y exportarlos por correo electrónico.
Secundaria y Preparatoria
“Las Visiones” (obra teatral)
Como parte de las actividades que tenemos como educadores del Colegio Merici, propiciamos el aprendizaje a través de las experiencias en donde acercamos a los estudiantes, en esta ocasión a través del arte con la obra “Las Visiones”. En donde tiene participación nuestra maestra de Teatro Ylia Octavia Popesku Pernia con una extraordinaria actuación, así como de los otros actores presentes. La temática propicia el desarrollo del pensamiento crítico abordando temas históricos que contrastan con nuestra realidad. Los alumnos que tuvieron la fortuna de presenciar esta obra se quedaron con una gran experiencia y pudieron apreciar el trabajo realizado por su maestra en otra faceta fuera del salón de clases.

The library was visited by SM publishing house. They will be one of the guests to participate in our upcoming BOOK FAIR. Don’t forget the school book fair will be April 25th & 26th. See everyone there!

Codi Maker
Los participantes del taller de Codi Maker aprenden a programar por bloques mediante juegos, adquieren los conceptos básicos de forma visual, amena y accesible. También se fomenta el trabajo en equipo y compañerismo, los alumnos se divierten, juegan y aprenden a crear programas, animaciones, diseño 3D y contenido digital.
